Fenerbahçe are nearing an agreement to sign Mason Greenwood from Olympique de Marseille after revising their offer to meet the French club’s valuation, according to reports. The Turkish side initially had a €30 million bid rejected but have since returned with improved terms that satisfy Marseille’s demands, with the 25-year-old already approving the proposed switch to the Süper Lig.
Negotiations Advance
The Istanbul-based club have moved to match Marseille’s exit terms for the former Manchester United forward. Greenwood is expected to depart the Ligue 1 outfit this summer following two seasons in southern France, with his sale set to free up transfer funds for the French side.
Fenerbahçe’s first approach fell short of Marseille’s asking price, creating a brief deadlock in discussions. However, renewed talks have progressed significantly, with both clubs now close to finalizing the structure of the deal.
Player Commits to Turkey
Greenwood has given the move his blessing, signalling his readiness to continue his career in Turkey rather than pursue opportunities elsewhere in Europe. The forward, who left Old Trafford for Marseille two years ago, has reportedly already begun preparations for his relocation from Aix-en-Provence.
His departure marks the end of a turbulent but productive spell in France, where he sought to rebuild his career following his exit from English football.
European Interest Rejected
Fenerbahçe have outmanoeuvred significant competition to secure Greenwood’s services. Both AS Roma and Atlético de Madrid expressed interest in acquiring the striker this summer, but the Turkish club’s persistent approach and the player’s willingness to move to Istanbul have swung the deal in their favour.
With personal terms agreed and the transfer fee now meeting Marseille’s requirements, the deal could be completed within days subject to medical examinations and final contractual details.
