Como are closing in on a loan deal for Borussia Dortmund right-back Yan Couto. The Serie A side are working to secure the Brazilian on a temporary move that includes an option to purchase, according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.
Sky Germany journalist Patrick Berger indicates the buying clause could be set at €20 million. This structure would allow Como to assess the defender during the coming season before deciding whether to commit to a permanent transfer at the end of the campaign.
Couto remains tied to the Bundesliga club until 2030. Dortmund paid Manchester City €25 million to acquire his services. Should Como trigger the purchase option, the German outfit would recoup the majority of their initial outlay.
The Lombardy club finished fourth in Serie A last season and are seeking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign. They only recently established contact with Dortmund regarding the right-back.
This marks a swift shift in outlook for Como. Only days earlier, the Italian club viewed the transfer as unlikely and had begun examining alternative targets. Di Marzio reports that the parties have made significant progress in recent hours, transforming the deal from improbable to imminent.
The potential acquisition represents a significant addition for Como as they build a competitive roster. For Dortmund, the arrangement offers the possibility of moving on a player signed last year while retaining the chance of a future capital return should the Italian side exercise the purchase option.
