AS Monaco chief executive Thiago Scuro has confirmed that the Ligue 1 club anticipates strong interest in three of their most valuable assets this summer, though he stressed that any departures will only proceed if they serve the principality side’s financial interests.

Speaking at a press conference attended by Get French Football News, Scuro addressed the futures of United States striker Folarin Balogun, French midfielder Maghnes Akliouche and Senegalese midfielder Lamine Camara. The trio represent Monaco’s most lucrative potential sales as the club seeks to balance its books following failure to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

PSG Bid for Akliouche as Premier League Clubs Circle Camara

Scuro’s comments come with specific interest already materialising. Paris Saint-Germain have submitted a bid for Akliouche, while Camara has attracted significant attention from the Premier League. Balogun, meanwhile, has seen his market value increase following an impressive showing for the United States Men’s National Team at the FIFA World Cup.

Despite the mounting speculation, Scuro maintained that Monaco retain full control over negotiations. “It is normal that clubs are interested in players like Akliouche, Balogun and Camara,” he said, according to Get French Football News. “If we can find a fair agreement for Monaco, we can find it tomorrow. If that isn’t the case, there will be no agreement.”

Financial Solutions Required Without ‘Desperation’

Monaco’s need to generate revenue stems from their failure to secure Champions League football for the upcoming campaign. However, Scuro was keen to emphasise that the club is not operating from a position of weakness.

“We need to find financial solutions, not necessarily by selling Akliouche or Balogun,” he explained. “We need to find the right balance in terms of transfers this summer.”

This measured approach suggests Monaco are willing to retain their stars unless bids meet their expectations, rather than accepting cut-price offers to satisfy immediate accounting requirements.

Dier Exit Talks Confirmed

Separately, Scuro confirmed that discussions have taken place regarding the departure of defender Eric Dier. The England international, who is among the club’s highest earners, has been in talks with his representatives about a potential exit as Monaco look to reduce their wage bill.

Offloading Dier would represent an alternative lever to raise funds without sacrificing younger, high-potential talents like Akliouche or Camara. The former Tottenham centre-back joined Monaco earlier this year but now appears surplus to requirements as the club reshapes its squad for European competition in the Europa League.

The coming weeks will determine whether Monaco’s valuation aligns with market offers. With PSG already testing the waters for Akliouche and English clubs monitoring Camara, Scuro’s stance indicates that while the door remains open, it will not be forced by financial pressure alone.
