Paris Saint-Germain have informed Liverpool and Arsenal that Bradley Barcola is not for sale this summer, dealing a significant blow to the Premier League clubs’ transfer plans. According to a report from David Ornstein, the French champions have taken a resolute stance on the 23-year-old forward despite his reluctance to sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes.

Barcola central to PSG plans

The France international has established himself as a vital component of the Parisian attack since joining from Lyon. At 23, he represents both the present and future of the club’s offensive lineup, making PSG particularly reluctant to sanction his departure.

The club’s position has been strengthened by recent squad movements. The departures of Gonçalo Ramos, Lee Kang-in and Randal Kolo Muani have freed up significant salary budget and created squad space. Consequently, PSG are under no financial pressure to sell their prized assets this window.

Even with the pending arrival of Maghnes Akliouche and continued interest in Yan Diomande, Les Parisiens view Barcola as indispensable to their project.

Contract standoff continues

Despite PSG’s desire to retain him, Barcola has shown reluctance to sign a new contract. This impasse has alerted several Premier League clubs, with Liverpool and Arsenal both registering firm interest in the attacker.

However, the French champions have looked at other developments in the market before naming their price tag. Sources indicate that in the unlikely event Barcola were to leave the Parc des Princes this summer, he would command a fee significantly higher than the £116 million figure attached to Elliot Anderson’s move to Manchester City.

Premier League interest blocked

For Liverpool and Arsenal, PSG’s firm stance represents a significant obstacle. Both clubs had identified the Frenchman as a potential target to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.

With the Ligue 1 champions adamant that their forward is not available at any price, the Premier League duo must now turn their attention to alternative targets. The situation leaves Barcola in Paris for the foreseeable future, even as questions about his long-term commitment remain unanswered.
