Borussia Dortmund are weighing up a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani, who has been priced at approximately €40 million by the French champions. The France international faces an uncertain future after a disappointing loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur and the collapse of a proposed transfer to Juventus.

Turin talks break down

Juventus had previously pursued a deal for Kolo Muani, with discussions centring on a loan arrangement with an obligation to purchase the player permanently. However, negotiations have encountered significant difficulties despite agreement that the fee need not be paid in a single instalment. This impasse has opened the door for other suitors, with Dortmund now monitoring the situation closely. The German club may consider a similar loan-to-buy formula to satisfy PSG’s valuation while managing their budget.

English clubs remain alert

Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are also tracking the former Eintracht Frankfurt striker, according to reports. Kolo Muani spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Tottenham Hotspur but struggled to make an impact, scoring just five goals during his time in north London. His parent club PSG hold a strong negotiating position, with the player contracted until 2028, meaning any departure would require a substantial offer or a creative financing solution acceptable to the Ligue 1 champions.

Dortmund’s striker dilemma

The German club’s interest in Kolo Muani comes amid uncertainty over the future of current forward Serhou Guirassy. The Guinea international has been linked with Fenerbahçe and possesses a release clause valued at nearly €40 million that expires on 15 July. Dortmund must decide whether to trigger Guirassy’s clause or pursue alternatives such as Kolo Muani. The situation is complicated by the similar valuation of both forwards, forcing the Bundesliga side to weigh immediate expenditure against structured payment options.

Kolo Muani’s future remains unresolved as the transfer window progresses. While Juventus appeared closest to securing his signature initially, their inability to finalise terms has created an opportunity for Dortmund or Premier League clubs to intervene. The striker’s hefty price tag and lengthy contract ensure PSG will not be forced into a bargain deal, leaving potential buyers to navigate complex negotiations in the weeks ahead.
