Lennart Karl has taken another step towards full fitness after Bayern Munich confirmed the teenage winger has resumed running training.
Recovery Progress
The 18-year-old completed laps around the training ground on Wednesday morning as he continues his individual recovery programme in Munich. Karl suffered a muscle tear shortly before the World Cup, ruling him out of international duty with Germany and forcing him to miss the tournament.
“It’ll take some time before I can join the sessions with the guys. Now it’s about not overdoing it,” Karl recently told Bayern’s official website. His cautious approach reflects the club’s careful management of young players returning from soft tissue injuries, particularly with the demanding schedule ahead.
Breakthrough Campaign
Last season marked a significant breakthrough for the youngster at senior level. He scored nine goals and provided eight assists across 40 appearances for the Bundesliga champions, establishing himself as one of the most productive academy graduates in recent seasons. His versatility across attacking positions made him a valuable squad member and caught the attention of national team selectors before his setback.
Pre-Season Target
Bayern’s medical staff aim to reintegrate Karl into full team training during the pre-season period. The winger will continue his individual work in Munich over the coming weeks, gradually increasing his workload before attempting to reclaim his place in the senior squad. A successful return would bolster the club’s attacking options ahead of the new Bundesliga campaign, though the teenager faces stiff competition for minutes from established internationals.
