Bayern Munich prospect Lennart Karl has returned to the club’s Säbener Straße training base to commence his rehabilitation following a muscle injury setback. The versatile attacker, who operates across the forward line, faces an extended period on the sidelines and will not be available when the squad begins pre-season preparations later this month.
In a statement released via the club’s official channels, the young forward described the psychological difficulty of dealing with the injury. “It’s really hard to come to terms with a setback like that. The first few days were really tough for me,” Karl admitted.
Family and teammates rally round
Karl emphasized the importance of his support network during the initial phase of recovery. He credited his family, girlfriend and close friends as his “biggest support” throughout the process. Additionally, the player revealed that messages from his Bayern teammates provided crucial encouragement during the difficult early stages.
“What they wrote to me really cheered me up and gave me strength. Everyone made it clear to me: injuries are part of the game; what matters is how you come back. That’s what drives me,” he explained.
Pre-season absence confirmed
Despite the approaching start date for Bayern’s pre-season programme on 20 July, Karl confirmed he will not participate in the opening sessions. “There’s not a lot of time till training starts on 20 July. It’ll be a while yet before I can join the boys in training. The main thing now is not to rush things,” he said.
The attacker is following a carefully managed rehabilitation plan under close medical supervision. “I’m in daily contact with the doctors and fitness coaches; we’re monitoring the muscle’s response very closely,” Karl noted.
Bayern have not specified a target date for Karl’s return to full team training, with the immediate priority focused on ensuring the muscle heals properly before the player increases his workload.
