FC Nantes have rejected a €23m bid from Paris FC for forward Matthis Abline, maintaining their stance that the France youth international will not leave for less than €30m. The offer from the Ligue 1 newcomers comes shortly after the Canaries turned down a €20m approach from AS Monaco for the 23-year-old.

Abline, who netted eight times in 34 appearances last term, saw his club drop into Ligue 2 following a disappointing campaign. Despite relegation, Nantes continue to command a significant fee for the striker, though their valuation has shifted considerably since the previous transfer window.

Price Tag Drops But Remains Substantial

Twelve months ago, Nantes reportedly demanded between €40m and €50m for Abline, fending off interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers among others. That price tag proved too steep for potential suitors, and the player remained at the Beaujoire for another season.

According to L’Équipe, the Loire-based club have now lowered their minimum expectation to €30m. This reduction reflects both the club’s second-tier status and Abline’s modest goal return during the previous campaign. Nevertheless, the revised figure still represents a significant investment for a player who struggled to prevent his side’s demotion from the top flight.

Monaco and Paris FC Maintain Interest

AS Monaco, who tabled the €20m bid, remain in contact with Nantes regarding the forward. However, they now face determined competition from Paris FC, who have retained their long-term interest in the player and submitted the recent €23m proposal.

Both clubs appear eager to secure Abline’s services, yet neither has met the revised valuation. With the transfer window progressing, Nantes may need to balance their financial demands against the reality of operating in the second division. Retaining a high-value asset could prove challenging if the player pushes for a move to secure top-flight football.

The coming weeks will likely determine whether Monaco or Paris FC increase their offers to meet the €30m threshold, or if alternative suitors emerge to test Nantes’ resolve.
