AS Roma have placed firm price tags of €55 million on midfielder Manu Koné and €35 million on winger Matias Soulè as the Serie A side scrambles to satisfy financial requirements following UEFA sanctions. The Italian outlet Il Corriere dello Sport reports that the Giallorossi will reject any bid below these figures, with Premier League clubs currently circling both players.
United turn down Ederson for Koné
Manchester United have made the France international their primary midfield target and recently declined the opportunity to sign Éderson from Atalanta in order to focus their efforts on securing Koné, according to the report. The 23-year-old only arrived in the Italian capital last summer but has already attracted significant interest from Old Trafford. Roma’s refusal to budge on the €55 million valuation reflects the club’s pressing need to inject cash into their accounts.
Soulè’s agent holds English talks
Separately, Soulè’s representative Martin Guastadisegno has travelled to England to meet executives from Sunderland and Fulham. The Argentine winger, who joined from Juventus, is valued at €35 million by the Romans. With an amortised cost of €15.5 million sitting on Roma’s balance sheet, offloading the 22-year-old for the asking price would generate a capital gain of roughly €20 million. Such a profit would significantly aid the club’s efforts to stabilise their financial records.
UEFA sanctions drive exit strategy
The aggressive pricing strategy stems directly from disciplinary action by UEFA. The governing body has fined Roma and demanded immediate improvements to the club’s financial documentation. Consequently, the board views the sale of star assets as unavoidable. Whether Manchester United are prepared to meet the €55 million threshold for Koné, or whether Sunderland or Fulham will satisfy the €35 million demand for Soulè, remains the next critical question in the capital club’s summer restructuring.
