Ruben Amorim has named a 26-man squad as Milan begin the first phase of pre-season training at Milanello on Monday, July 13. The Portuguese coach faces the task of rebuilding the squad and will use the opening weeks to run the rule over both established figures and peripheral players ahead of the new Serie A campaign.

New arrival Mario Gila is thrown straight into the group after completing his move from Lazio. The defender will hope to impress immediately as Amorim assesses his defensive options. However, striker Gonçalo Ramos is absent, with the Portugal international still on holiday after his nation’s World Cup campaign ended.

Loan returns and academy prospects

Amorim has recalled several players who spent last season away from San Siro. Winger Samuel Chukwueze, forward Francesco Camarda and midfielder Yunus Musah return from loan spells eager to prove they merit places in the new-look setup. The manager has stated he wants to evaluate his current resources before deciding on further inbound or outbound transfers.

The cohort features numerous academy prospects seeking to break through. Eighteen-year-old winger Aurelien Guernier, a recent recruit from Birmingham City, joins fellow striker Andrej Kostic in attempting to earn senior contracts. Christian Comotto arrives fresh from representing Italy at the European Under-19 Championship. Several young goalkeepers and defenders are also included as Amorim examines his depth options.

Experienced core and absentees

Experienced heads including Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Youssouf Fofana provide the senior framework alongside the trialists. However, midfielder Kevin Zeroli misses out after concluding the campaign late with Juve Stabia during the Serie B promotion play-offs. The 21-year-old is not expected to remain with the Rossoneri.

The coming weeks at Milanello will prove decisive for many squad members as the club reshapes its identity under new leadership.
