Leeds United are reportedly preparing a €25 million offer to sign Udinese defender Oumar Solet. According to reports in Italy, the Premier League club are ready to meet the Serie A side’s asking price for the centre-back, who is considered hot property on the transfer market following an impressive spell in Friuli.

The 24-year-old Frenchman joined Udinese as a free agent in January 2025 after leaving RB Salzburg in September 2024 amid a contract dispute. His mid-season arrival without a transfer fee means the Italian outfit stand to make a significant profit should the deal proceed.

Serie A giants baulk at valuation

Both Inter and Juventus have previously been linked with moves for Solet, but neither club has been prepared to satisfy Udinese’s financial demands. Inter’s formal proposals were understood to be in the region of €20 million including add-ons, falling short of the €25 million valuation.

The Italian sides reportedly allowed negotiations to slide while dealing with other priorities, creating an opening for Leeds to capitalise. Unlike their Serie A counterparts, the Yorkshire club appear willing to pay the full fee without hesitation.

Second Serie A investment

The potential capture of Solet would mark Leeds’ second major investment in Italian football within days. The club have already agreed a €40 million deal to sign Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic, demonstrating significant intent in strengthening their defensive options through the Italian market.

Solet’s rapid rise in value reflects his strong performances since arriving in Italy. Having secured his services without a transfer fee just months ago, Udinese now find themselves positioned to command a substantial return on their investment.

While no agreement has been finalised between the clubs, Leeds’ apparent willingness to meet the asking price places them in a strong position to secure the defender ahead of their continental rivals.
