AC Milan have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Portugal international Gonçalo Ramos in a deal that reportedly breaks the Rossoneri’s club-record transfer fee. The 25-year-old striker, currently with his national team at the 2026 World Cup, has already undertaken a medical examination in Florida ahead of the proposed switch.

The Portuguese centre-forward becomes the most expensive signing in Milan’s history, surpassing the €50 million threshold previously set when Rafael Leão arrived from Lille OSC. The financial commitment represents a statement of intent from the Serie A club, ranking among the most substantial outlays in the Italian top flight since Inter Milan’s €74 million acquisition of Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United.

Amorim influence proves decisive

Newly-appointed Milan head coach Ruben Amorim has played a pivotal role in facilitating Ramos’s move to the San Siro. The manager’s personal involvement proved instrumental in convincing the striker to choose Lombardy over other potential destinations across Europe.

Ramos arrives with proven credentials from his spell in the French capital. Since joining PSG in 2023, the forward registered 45 goals and ten assists in 131 appearances across all competitions. His tenure concluded dramatically with participation in the UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal, where his successful penalty conversion proved to be his final contribution for the Parisians.

Strengthening the attack

The capture of Ramos addresses Milan’s need for a prolific centre-forward capable of leading the line in domestic and European competition. The move aligns with Amorim’s rebuilding project as the club seeks to re-establish itself among Italy’s elite.

The striker will join his new colleagues following the conclusion of Portugal’s World Cup campaign. His availability for pre-season preparations will depend on the national team’s progression in the tournament, though the medical completed in Florida suggests the transfer process is substantially advanced.

The departure ends Ramos’s three-year association with PSG, during which he contributed to the club’s domestic success while adapting to the demands of elite-level football.
