Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes is orchestrating Milan’s summer transfer strategy, with the Serie A side now reportedly targeting Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó following reports of a major deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Gonçalo Ramos.
Mendes strengthens Rossoneri influence
Mendes has long-standing ties with Milan and has previously helped engineer moves for players including Pervis Estupiñán, João Félix and André Silva, as well as the appointment of former coach Sérgio Conceição. His influence has grown further following a structural overhaul at the club.
Milan have scrapped the positions of technical director and director of sport, creating a streamlined hierarchy that hands coach Rúben Amorim greater authority. This new setup involves closer consultation with Mendes, who is effectively acting as an adjunct to the club’s sporting department.
Record-breaking Ramos deal questioned
According to multiple reports, Milan have reportedly agreed a €70 million deal with PSG for Ramos. If completed, the fee would shatter the club’s transfer record of €49.4 million paid for Rafael Leão.
However, questions persist regarding the structure of the proposed fee and the scale of commissions due to Mendes. Sources suggest uncertainty remains over how much of the €70 million would constitute agent payments, given Mendes’ dual role in brokering the deal and advising Milan.
Casadó emerges as next target
With Mendes now central to recruitment, Milan have turned their attention to Casadó. The 23-year-old Spain international, who turns 23 in September, is a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy and was promoted to the senior squad in 2024.
Casadó made 34 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions this season, though only 15 of those were starts. He contributed one assist during the campaign. His potential arrival at San Siro would mark another significant coup for Mendes, who is leveraging his relationship with both clubs to facilitate negotiations.
The midfielder’s situation remains fluid, with Barcelona yet to confirm whether they are willing to sell the academy graduate. Milan’s interest comes as Amorim reshapes his squad following the club’s structural changes, with the Portuguese coach seeking reinforcements in midfield to support their domestic and European campaigns.
