Adrien Rabiot has confirmed he will delay discussions with new AC Milan coach Ruben Amorim until France’s World Cup campaign reaches its conclusion. The midfielder, a key figure in Didier Deschamps’ side, is prioritising international duty over club matters as Les Bleus prepare for Tuesday’s semi-final against Spain.
When approached by Rai outside Didier Deschamps’ squad base, the 29-year-old revealed that no contact has taken place with the Portuguese coach since his appointment. Asked whether Amorim had been in touch, Rabiot kept his response brief. “We’ll speak later on,” he said, according to CalcioMercato.
World Cup Focus
France face Spain at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington for a place in the final, and Rabiot has made it clear that the tournament takes precedence for now. He has played a prominent role throughout the campaign, establishing himself as an essential component of Deschamps’ midfield unit.
Milan Future
Despite the delay in formal talks, signs point toward Rabiot remaining at the club. His mother and agent, Veronique, accompanied him during the interview and reportedly gave the impression that her son’s future still lies with the red and black. She rarely speaks publicly, but her presence alongside her son offers the strongest indication yet that a departure from San Siro is not imminent.
Amorim is understood to view the French international as a central figure in his Milan project. Once the World Cup concludes, the player is expected to speak again with the coach to discuss his role in the forthcoming season.
Napoli Interest Cooled
Earlier in the transfer window, Napoli had been mentioned as potential suitors, with manager Massimiliano Allegri known to admire the France international. However, any move to the Partenopei appears complicated by financial constraints. Napoli must first sell midfielder Frank Anguissa before they can register new additions in that position. Until the Cameroon international finds a new club, the Naples side cannot proceed with their midfield reinforcement plans, leaving the path to San Siro currently clearer for Rabiot’s continuation.
For now, the midfielder’s focus remains entirely on delivering silverware for his country.
