Monaco prepare for Balogun departure

AS Monaco are anticipating the sale of striker Folarin Balogun this summer after the United States international enhanced his reputation with three goals at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Foot Mercato reports that the Principality club, who will compete outside the UEFA Champions League next season, are not opposed to a sale.

Interest in the Arsenal academy product was expected even before the tournament, but his performances in France have placed him firmly in the shop window. Balogun’s exit would provide valuable funds for a squad rebuilding after missing out on Europe’s premier competition.

Premier League and European interest grows

Balogun’s World Cup displays have attracted attention from several major European sides. Premier League clubs Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been cited as potential suitors, whilst French champions Paris Saint-Germain and German outfit Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with the forward.

Monaco identify replacement targets

In anticipation of the striker’s exit, Monaco have established a three-man shortlist of potential replacements. AJ Auxerre’s Lassine Sinayoko features on that list, although the Ligue 1 club are yet to table a formal bid. However, Get French Football News understands that the Malian forward has his sights set on a move to the Premier League amid interest from across the Channel.

Mathis Abline of FC Nantes remains a target despite Monaco seeing an opening offer of €15 million rejected. The two clubs remain in contact, though the Breton side—who will play in Ligue 2 next season—are holding out for a higher fee.

A third unnamed foreign striker currently playing abroad is also under consideration as Monaco brace for a future without their World Cup star.
