Bayern Munich have struck a final agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign defender Nathaniel Brown for €55 million, according to Sky Germany. Journalist Florian Plettenberg reported on Thursday evening that the Bundesliga champions have settled the transfer fee after prolonged negotiations, paving the way for the 23-year-old to complete his move to Bavaria.
The left-sided defender had already reached a personal agreement with Bayern and is expected to sign a contract valid until 2031. Following his medical examination, Brown could finalise the transfer before the 2026 World Cup concludes, allowing him to integrate with the squad during pre-season preparations.
English interest unsuccessful
Arsenal and Chelsea both attempted to hijack the deal in its final stages, but their efforts failed to derail Bayern’s pursuit. The Premier League clubs’ late approaches could not match the terms agreed between the German clubs and the player, who had already committed to joining the reigning champions.
The failed interventions from London underline Bayern’s continued pulling power in the transfer market, even when competing against financially strong English sides. Brown’s decision to remain in Germany demonstrates the appeal of guaranteed playing time and silverware prospects at Säbener Straße.
Financial arrangement
Brown’s former club, 1.FC Nürnberg, are also set to profit from the transfer. The side hold a sell-on clause entitling them to a portion of the €55 million package, providing a welcome financial windfall from their former academy product.
The signing represents a significant addition to Bayern’s defensive resources. At 23, Brown brings both immediate quality and long-term potential to the left side of defence, offering vital competition and cover as the club prepares to defend their Bundesliga title and mount challenges in domestic cup and European competition.
