Bayern Munich board member Max Eberl has made the club’s position clear regarding the future of Michael Olise, stating that the German giants are under no financial pressure to sell the highly-rated winger, despite reports linking him with Real Madrid.
Eberl’s comments come amidst ongoing speculation about Olise’s long-term commitment to the Bavarian club. When questioned about a potential transfer fee that might tempt Bayern to part ways with the France international, Eberl emphasised Bayern’s strong financial standing and ambition.
“If you want to win the Champions League, that question does not arise. That is the great thing about Bayern Munich: we do not have to buckle over any fee,” Eberl stated, according to reports. This firm declaration underscores Bayern’s intent to retain key players as they pursue top honours.
Crucially, Olise is currently under contract with Bayern Munich until 2029, a deal that spans three more years. Eberl also confirmed that this contract does not include a release clause, giving Bayern significant control over the player’s future and preventing any club from activating a pre-determined exit fee.
While Bayern is resolute in its current stance, the club also plans to engage in discussions with Olise regarding a potential contract extension. Eberl acknowledged Olise’s significant progress at the club, stating, “Michael has developed exceptionally well with us.” He added that discussions about the player’s future are inevitable. “At some point, we will certainly sit down and discuss what happens next,” Eberl remarked.
The board member concluded by setting a timeline for these crucial talks: “By next summer, we should know whether there is an inclination on his part to extend his contract or not.” This indicates that a decision on Olise’s long-term future at the Allianz Arena is expected within the next year.
Real Madrid have been frequently mentioned as the primary suitors for Olise, suggesting a potential high-profile transfer battle should the player decide against extending his deal with Bayern. However, for now, Bayern Munich appears to be in a strong negotiating position, determined to keep one of their key attacking talents.
