PULSER FOOTBALL NEWS

Bayern Munich have completed the signing of defender Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported €50 million, finally securing a player they first identified when he was only nine years old.

Brown’s long-standing mentor, Christian Lichtenauer, has revealed that the Munich club showed interest in the defender more than a decade ago during his formative years at SSV Jahn Regensburg. However, practical concerns regarding the journey to Munich and schooling arrangements led the young player and his family to choose 1. FC Nürnberg instead.

Childhood Recruitment

Brown began his youth career at TSV Kümmersbruck before joining SSV Jahn Regensburg at age nine. His performances quickly marked him as a standout talent in his age group, prompting approaches from several professional clubs across the region.

According to Lichtenauer, Bayern Munich were among the suitors monitoring Brown’s progress alongside FC Ingolstadt and 1. FC Nürnberg. The defender’s rapid development at Regensburg made him one of the most sought-after young players in his area.

Family Decision

Speaking to AZ, Lichtenauer explained the reasoning behind selecting Nürnberg over Bayern during that crucial period of Brown’s development. “At Jahn, he quickly impressed and became one of the best players in the team, which led to various clubs approaching us,” Lichtenauer said. “At that point, the idea of them signing the boy was not yet that strong, because the distance would have been very far for us. His only option would have been to move into a boarding school. That was another reason why we ultimately decided on Nürnberg.”

Transfer Completed

After progressing through Nürnberg’s academy and establishing himself as a senior professional at Eintracht Frankfurt, Brown has now completed his move to Bayern. The reported €50 million fee represents a significant investment in the defender.

The transfer brings to an end Bayern’s lengthy pursuit of Brown, which began during his time at Regensburg and has now concluded with his move to Munich.
