João Palhinha has rejected lucrative proposals from the Saudi Pro League and Turkish Super Lig as the Bayern Munich midfielder prioritises remaining close to his children in Portugal, according to BILD.
The 31-year-old is seeking an exit from the Bundesliga champions after finding himself among the out-of-favour players. Family circumstances are dictating his next move rather than financial incentives. Palhinha is divorced and his two children reside in Portugal, making a return to his homeland the preferred option despite Benfica and Sporting CP currently being unable to afford Bayern’s asking price.
Portuguese options and Villa interest
Both Benfica and Sporting have emerged as potential destinations for the Portuguese international. These clubs would allow Palhinha regular playing time while maintaining proximity to his family. However, neither Lisbon club can currently meet the transfer fee required by the Bavarians.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa have registered interest in securing Palhinha’s services. The Premier League side are exploring a loan arrangement with an option to buy rather than committing to a permanent transfer immediately. This structure could suit Bayern if the Midlands club can cover his wages.
Bayern set €15m price for Boey
French defender Sacha Boey is also attracting attention as Bayern look to trim their squad. Several unnamed mid-table Premier League clubs have enquired about the former.
