Massolin, a 23-year-old of French-Algerian descent, represents another ambitious target. The midfielder has impressed within Inter’s ranks and a loan move would provide him with regular first-team football while addressing Bologna’s need for fresh legs in the centre of the park.

By combining a permanent defensive acquisition with loan additions in midfield, Bologna appear to be balancing immediate competitive needs with longer-term squad planning as they prepare for life under their new coach.
