Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye have been omitted from Paris Saint-Germain’s squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Rennes on Sunday as both players prepare for potential summer exits.

According to Onze Mondial, neither the 23-year-old France international nor the 18-year-old forward is expected to travel with Luis Enrique’s side to Brittany. The pair also sat out last week’s Trophée des Champions triumph over RC Lens, with their continued absence from matchday preparations signalling imminent departures before the transfer window closes.

Liverpool interest in Barcola

Barcola has emerged as a primary target for Liverpool, who are seeking to reinforce their attacking options. The Premier League club have held discussions with the reigning UEFA Champions League holders regarding the forward, though reports indicate these negotiations are making slow progress.

Both Barcola and Mbaye participated in training on Saturday morning, yet they will not be involved in the weekend fixture. The situation suggests PSG are preparing for life without the duo, despite their involvement in pre-season preparations.

Fixture relocated

The encounter with Rennes has been moved from Parc des Princes to Roazhon Park after a fungal infection rendered PSG’s home pitch unplayable. The venue change adds further disruption to the champions’ season opener, which they must contest without two of their forward options.

It remains uncertain whether PSG will host the reverse fixture against Rennes at their traditional home later in the season.

PSG’s decision to exclude both players from competitive action demonstrates the club’s willingness to facilitate moves away, even as they begin their domestic title defence. The coming days are likely to prove decisive for Barcola’s future in particular, with Liverpool maintaining their pursuit as the window enters its final phase.
