AS Monaco are working to a demanding €150 million sales mandate this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain preparing a fourth offer for midfielder Maghnes Akliouche as the Ligue 1 side continues its efforts to satisfy financial requirements.
The Principality club have already generated significant capital through the permanent departure of Aladji Bamba. The 20-year-old French midfielder joined Newcastle United in a deal worth approximately £35 million, providing a substantial initial contribution towards the overall target.
Further exits have seen experienced figures leave the Stade Louis II. Left-back Caio Henrique has completed a transfer to Ajax, whilst full-back Kassoum Ouattara has moved to Turkish side Besiktas. These sales reduce the wage bill and bring additional funds, though the exact fees received for both players remain undisclosed.
Akliouche targeted by domestic rivals
Despite the ongoing exodus, Monaco’s most significant sale could still materialise. Maghnes Akliouche, the French international attacking midfielder, is widely expected to depart before the window closes.
Paris Saint-Germain have maintained persistent interest throughout the summer and are understood to be readying a fourth bid for the 22-year-old playmaker. The reigning Ligue 1 champions believe Akliouche can strengthen their creative options for the upcoming campaign.
Premier League side Liverpool have also registered their interest in the midfielder, potentially setting up a bidding contest for his signature. Akliouche’s departure would likely represent Monaco’s largest single incoming transfer fee of the summer.
Remaining gap to bridge
The €150 million target leaves the club’s sporting management with considerable work still to complete. Bamba’s sale contributes roughly €41 million towards the total, meaning significant further income is required from remaining transactions.
Should Akliouche command a fee in line with his market value and potential, his exit would substantially close the gap. However, Monaco must balance the need for revenue against the risk of weakening a squad that aims to compete domestically and in European competition.
