Dong seals Championship switch
FC Augsburg have officially confirmed that Kyliane Dong will spend the 2026-27 campaign with Bolton Wanderers. The attacker moves to the English Championship on a one-year loan arrangement which includes an option for the Greater Manchester club to make the transfer permanent.
The Bavarian club sanctioned the temporary exit to provide the player with regular senior football. Dong previously gained valuable experience in French football during a loan spell with Pau FC in Ligue 2. The switch to Bolton offers the attacker an opportunity to test himself in one of Europe’s most physically demanding second tiers.
Officials at the German club confirmed the arrangement earlier this week. The exact terms of the option to buy have been kept confidential by both parties.
Meiser set for Düsseldorf
Defender Felix Meiser is also poised to leave Augsburg ahead of the new season. The 19-year-old centre-back is expected to complete a transfer to Fortuna Düsseldorf, according to sources at Sky Germany. The club have yet to formally announce the signing.
Augsburg have negotiated protective measures into the prospective agreement. The Bavarian side have retained a buy-back clause allowing them to re-sign Meiser should he develop as anticipated in North Rhine-Westphalia. This mechanism demonstrates the club’s long-term planning, ensuring they maintain control over the defender’s future should he establish himself as a regular starter.
While Dong’s transfer represents completed business for the summer window, Meiser’s proposed switch remains subject to final confirmation. Both arrangements reflect Augsburg’s strategy of placing young talents in competitive environments to accelerate their development.
