Teenager secures Eerste Divisie move
Fynn Schenten has joined Roda JC Kerkrade on a one-year loan from 1.FC Köln. The 18-year-old striker moves to the Netherlands second tier ahead of the 2026-27 campaign as he searches for consistent first-team football.
Schenten featured seven times for Köln in the Bundesliga last season, though all appearances came from the substitute’s bench. The temporary switch allows the Germany youth international to step outside the Bundesliga spotlight and accumulate senior minutes in the Eerste Divisie.
Dutch club fend off rival interest
Roda JC technical director Rob Servais revealed that Schenten had attracted attention from multiple suitors before committing to the Limburg-based club. The teenager’s decision to select Kerkrade represents a significant recruitment success for the second-division outfit.
“Fynn is a talented attacker who comes from an excellent football academy,” Servais said. “He can play both as a striker and as a second striker, and his speed and robustness are qualities that fit our style of play perfectly. We are therefore pleased that Fynn chose Roda JC despite interest from several clubs.”
Pathway to regular minutes
The loan removes Schenten from Köln’s senior squad for the upcoming season but offers the prospect of consistent starting opportunities. Regular exposure to competitive football in the Dutch pyramid is viewed as essential for his continued development.
Roda JC will compete in the Eerste Divisie during the 2026-27 term, with Schenten expected to bolster their attacking ranks. The arrangement is scheduled to conclude next summer, when the striker will return to Köln.
