Fiorentina are working to secure two wide attacking players before the transfer deadline, with advanced negotiations underway for Torino’s Alieu Njie and preliminary contact made regarding Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto.
Njie negotiations at advanced stage
The Viola are in detailed talks with Torino over a deal worth €15 million plus add-ons for the 21-year-old winger. According to Sportitalia, the proposed agreement includes a sell-on clause giving the Turin club a cut of any future transfer fee.
Njie had also drawn interest from RB Salzburg and Crystal Palace this summer, but Fiorentina now lead the race for his signature. The move represents a significant step in new coach Fabio Grosso’s squad reconstruction following a disappointing campaign that saw the Florence side battle relegation from Serie A.
The club are actively seeking to add more options on the flanks as they look to climb the standings this season.
Gnonto enquiry depends on Gudmundsson exit
Fiorentina have also asked Leeds United about the availability of Gnonto, according to The Athletic. The 22-year-old Italy international, who made his senior debut for the Azzurri in June 2022 and has earned 13 caps, has struggled for game time at Elland Road.
However, any move for the winger remains conditional. Sources indicate Fiorentina would only pursue the transfer if Albert Gudmundsson leaves the club. Bologna have been linked with the Icelandic attacker, and his departure would free up space and funds for the Viola to target Gnonto.
With limited time remaining in the window, securing a deal for the Leeds player is regarded as complicated. The club’s immediate focus appears to be finalising the Njie agreement while monitoring Gudmundsson’s situation.
