Franck Kessie has been offered to both Juventus and Atalanta as the former AC Milan midfielder seeks a return to Italian football. The Ivorian, who left Serie A for Al-Ahli three seasons ago, is available on a free transfer and has attracted strong interest from the Turin club.

Juventus have emerged as the frontrunners after head coach Luciano Spalletti expressed his approval of the player following his recent performances for Ivory Coast. The 28-year-old has demonstrated he remains in excellent physical condition despite his time in the Saudi Pro League, combining defensive steel with driving runs from midfield.

Financial demands reduced

Kessie’s representatives have approached both clubs directly to discuss terms. He is seeking wages of €4–5 million per season, a significant reduction from the approximately €14 million he earned at Al-Ahli. This drop in salary demands makes him an attractive option for Serie A sides operating under financial constraints, particularly as no transfer fee is required.

Juventus move hinges on sales

However, any transfer to Juventus remains contingent on the club trimming their current midfield roster. The Turin side must create space in the squad before Kessie can be registered. They have monitored the midfielder for several months and view him as a low-risk addition who would bring experience, physicality, leadership and goalscoring threat from deep.

Atalanta remain interested

Atalanta represent an alternative destination, though the financial operation poses a greater challenge for the Bergamo club. They are seeking to reinforce their midfield options and view Kessie’s presence as valuable, but competing with Juventus on wages may prove difficult given their differing budget structures.

Kessie previously spent five successful seasons at AC Milan, winning the Serie A title in 2022 before his move to the Middle East. His potential return would mark one of the most significant free transfers of the summer window, with both clubs now weighing up whether to formalise their interest and meet his salary expectations.
