Frosinone have moved to secure continuity ahead of their Serie A return by renewing the loan agreements of three key contributors from the promotion-winning campaign.
The newly-promoted side confirmed that defenders Gabriele Calvani and Giorgio Cittadini will remain at the Stadio Benito Stirpe for the 2026-27 season, alongside forward Seydou Fini. All three arrangements are temporary deals that do not include options for permanent transfers, meaning Frosinone will benefit from their services for the upcoming campaign without securing long-term rights.
The Renewed Trio
Calvani and Fini arrive from Genoa, while Cittadini joins from Atalanta. The Canarini finished second in Serie B last term to seal automatic promotion back to the top flight, with manager Eusebio Di Francesco relying heavily on borrowed talent to construct a competitive squad.
Calvani, a 22-year-old centre-back, proved particularly influential during the promotion push. The Genoa loanee featured 37 times for the club across all competitions last season, establishing himself as a defensive mainstay.
Fini operates as a striker and arrives with growing international recognition. The Italy Under-21 international celebrated his 20th birthday last month and managed one goal and two assists in eight appearances after joining on a six-month deal in January. His return provides additional firepower as Frosinone prepare for the significant step up in class against Italy’s elite clubs.
Cittadini represents the longest-serving of the three arrivals. The 24-year-old central defender first arrived on loan from Atalanta in 2024, meaning the upcoming campaign will mark his third consecutive year with the Lazio-based outfit. His established understanding of the club’s culture and expectations could prove particularly valuable during their adjustment to the relentless demands of top-flight football.
Strategic Outlook
The renewals underline Frosinone’s continued reliance on the loan market to construct competitive squads beyond their traditional means. Without purchase clauses attached to any of the three agreements, the club must maximise their contributions during the 2026-27 season before parent clubs reassess their development paths.
The Genoa connection brings particular strength to Frosinone’s spine. Calvani offers defensive solidity following his consistent presence last term, while Fini provides youthful energy in the final third. Retaining familiar faces who already understand Di Francesco’s tactical demands should ease the transition, particularly in defensive areas where Calvani and Cittadini provide proven, battle-tested options.
Further recruitment activity is expected as Frosinone attempt to consolidate their position among Italy’s elite, with the loan market likely to remain central to their survival strategy.
