Galatasaray are preparing to submit an offer for Como winger Assane Diao, though they face stiff competition from Roma for the highly-rated Senegal international.

According to reports from Matteo Moretto on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, the Turkish club have been in contact with Como and intend to formalise their interest imminently. Their proposal is expected to comprise a paid loan deal with either an option or an obligation to buy the 20-year-old outright. This structure would allow Galatasaray to spread the financial commitment over two accounting periods.

Como are reportedly demanding between €25 million and €30 million to part with Diao. Such a fee would represent a significant return for the Serie A side, who invested €12 million to acquire the player from Real Betis in January 2025. This steep valuation reflects both the winger’s potential and his impressive early performances in Italian football. The Lombardy-based club appear in no hurry to sell their prized asset after only six months, particularly given their ambitions to establish themselves in the top flight.

The youngster hit the ground running following his mid-season switch from La Liga, netting eight times in his first 15 Serie A outings. Subsequent injury troubles limited his appearances thereafter, yet his initial impact demonstrated exactly why several major clubs across Europe are now monitoring his situation closely. His combination of pace, dribbling ability and finishing makes him an attractive prospect for teams seeking width in attack.

Roma have also registered concrete interest in Diao as they seek to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season. The capital club view the versatile forward as a quality addition capable of strengthening their squad for both domestic and European campaigns. Their interest adds further pressure on Galatasaray to act quickly if they wish to secure the player’s signature.

The proposed structure of Galatasaray’s approach may require delicate negotiation. While Como prefer an immediate permanent transfer at full value to reinvest in their squad, the Turkish side’s willingness to include an obligation to purchase in their loan offer could provide a compromise that satisfies all parties. However, matching the reported €25 million to €30 million valuation remains the primary obstacle to any deal being concluded.

No agreement has been reached yet, and Como retain a strong negotiating position given Diao’s long-term contract and rapid development since arriving from Spain. The coming days will likely prove decisive as both Galatasaray and Roma attempt to secure one of Serie A’s most exciting young prospects.
