Ibrahim Mbaye’s future at Paris Saint-Germain looks increasingly uncertain after his relationship with the French champions deteriorated, prompting the club to consider selling the highly-rated teenager.
The 18-year-old Senegal international, regarded as one of the most promising talents of his generation, has reportedly fallen out of favour at the Parc des Princes. He has managed just 11 appearances in 2026 after being demoted in the squad hierarchy by the coaching staff.
Disciplinary issues and family friction
According to journalist Romain Molina, Mbaye’s decline in status follows repeated breaches of professional standards. The forward is said to have arrived late for training on several occasions and has reportedly gained weight due to poor dietary habits.
The situation has been complicated by the player’s father, who allegedly made ambitious comparisons between his son and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal. “My son is Lamine Yamal. He’s the best; he’s better than Ousmane Dembélé. Why isn’t he playing?” the father is reported to have claimed.
These remarks have angered PSG advisor Luis Campos, who reportedly holds the father responsible for media leaks that have fuelled dressing-room tension.
New representation and Premier League links
Mbaye has ended his parents’ management of his career and signed with Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes, despite reportedly having no prior contact with him. This switch signals a probable push for an immediate transfer.
Several English clubs have monitored the Trappes-born winger. Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea have all tracked his progress, while Mbaye himself previously indicated a desire to join Aston Villa. That option appears less certain after Mendes facilitated Alejandro Garnacho’s move from Chelsea to Villa instead.
With disciplinary concerns mounting and a new agent now handling negotiations, Mbaye appears set to leave Paris before his contract situation deteriorates further.
