Winger Isak Jensen is poised to complete a loan move from AZ Alkmaar to FC Lorient after the French club won the race for his signature. The 23-year-old Denmark youth international is scheduled to undergo a medical examination in Brittany in the coming days to seal the temporary switch from the Eredivisie.
The agreement includes a purchase option valued at just over €3 million, reports indicate. Lorient would have the right to make Jensen’s stay permanent should the winger impress during his spell with the club, which currently competes in Ligue 2 following relegation from France’s top division last season.
Jensen joined AZ Alkmaar in 2024 and has established himself as a useful contributor during his 18 months at the Dutch side. The left-sided attacker has made 55 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and registering eight assists. His ability to operate on the flank and contribute in the final third has attracted attention from French clubs seeking reinforcements in wide areas.
The move to Lorient offers Jensen the chance to play under new manager Alexandre Dujeux, who has taken charge of a project backed by Black Knight Football Club (BKFC). The American investment group acquired the Brittany outfit recently and has set ambitious targets for an immediate return to Ligue 1, making experienced squad additions a priority for the campaign ahead.
Lorient fended off rival interest from fellow second-tier side Le Havre AC to secure the deal. The Normandy club had also identified Jensen as a target but were unable to match Lorient’s proposal for the Danish winger, who now looks set to ply his trade on the Atlantic coast.
The medical assessment represents the final hurdle before Jensen can officially join Les Merlus. If completed, the transfer would provide AZ Alkmaar with a temporary solution for a player seeking more regular minutes, while giving Lorient additional attacking depth as they pursue promotion back to France’s elite division.
