Amir Richardson has returned to Le Havre AC on a season-long loan from ACF Fiorentina, with the Ligue 1 side securing an €8 million option to buy the Morocco international outright.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who graduated from Le Havre’s youth academy, completes the club’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window. Following the earlier arrivals of Sota Nakamura, Vincent Sasso, Kaito Mizuta and Timothée Pembélé, Richardson’s return marks another statement of intent as the Normandy side strengthens its options ahead of the new season.

From Florence back to Normandy

Richardson’s homecoming comes just twelve months after he departed for Italy. Fiorentina paid €9 million to sign him from Stade de Reims in August 2024, tying him to a contract that runs until 2029. Yet the Nice-born player struggled to establish himself in Serie A, managing only nine appearances totalling 414 minutes across all competitions during the 2024–25 season.

The midfielder also spent the second half of last term on loan at FC Copenhagen, though regular playing time proved elusive there too. Across his entire eighteen-month association with Fiorentina, Richardson recorded 43 appearances, scoring twice and providing one assist.

Career relaunch

Despite earning nine caps for the Atlas Lions, the lack of consistent club football prompted this return to familiar surroundings. Le Havre will hope the move reignites the form that previously attracted interest from top-five European leagues, while the buy-out clause offers a clear pathway to a permanent reunion should the midfielder rediscover his rhythm.

The arrangement leaves Fiorentina with future options. They retain the player’s rights under his lengthy contract, meaning a successful season in Normandy could yet see Richardson return to Florence with enhanced value, or alternatively secure a permanent exit via the predetermined fee. For the player, the priority is immediate: rebuild match sharpness in a league where he previously developed before attempting once more to establish himself at the highest level.
