Real Betis secured a commanding 5-2 victory over Osasuna on Sunday, with a brilliant brace from midfielder Isco propelling them to third place in the La Liga standings. The emphatic win saw Betis accumulate 19 points after eight matches, positioning them strongly in the early stages of the Spanish top flight season.
Dominant Performance at Home
The hosts wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Isco opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the 10th minute. Their attacking intent continued to pay off when Abde Ezzalzouli doubled Betis’ advantage before half-time, capitalising on a high press that effectively turned defence into a swift offensive move.
The second half began much like the first, with Diego Llorente further extending Real Betis’ lead just three minutes after the break, making it 3-0. However, Osasuna mounted a spirited and swift response. Ante Budimir and Raúl García both found the net in quick succession in the 56th minute, narrowing the deficit to 3-2 and momentarily turning what appeared to be a comfortable afternoon for Betis into a more competitive and tense encounter.
Isco, however, proved pivotal once more, quickly restoring Betis’ crucial two-goal cushion. He reacted sharply to a loose ball inside the penalty area, driving it into the net to re-establish a comfortable lead. The comprehensive victory was then sealed deep into stoppage time when substitute José Antonio Morante, who had been introduced in the 90th minute, added a fifth goal for Real Betis, completing the impressive 5-2 rout.
Climbing the La Liga Table
This significant win sees Real Betis climb to an impressive third position in La Liga. They now sit five points behind current league leaders Barcelona and hold a one-point advantage over city rivals Real Madrid. This result not only highlights their strong start to the campaign but also underscores their ambition to compete among the top contenders in Spanish football this season.
