Negotiations between Juventus and Bologna regarding midfielder Fabio Miretti have encountered significant obstacles over the transfer fee and payment structure. The Bianconeri have reduced their asking price to between €12 million and €14 million, down from an initial €20 million valuation, yet Bologna’s proposal remains substantially lower than this revised figure.

The clubs are also at odds over the mechanics of any potential deal. They have not reached agreement on whether the transfer should be permanent or structured as a loan with an option or obligation to buy contingent on specific performance conditions being met during the spell.

Financial deadline pressure

Juventus are operating under a strict June 30 deadline to complete a significant sale and balance their financial accounts. The club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League has heightened the urgency to generate revenue through player sales before the end of the financial year.

Miretti represents an attractive prospect in this regard. The 22-year-old, who turns 23 in August, came through the Juventus youth academy, meaning his sale would register as almost pure profit on the balance sheet and help satisfy the club’s immediate accounting requirements.

Market interest and player preference

Bologna remain the club most interested in securing Miretti’s signature and maintain constant contact with Juventus in an effort to narrow the considerable gap between their respective valuations. However, sources indicate that reaching a compromise is proving difficult given the current distance between offer and demand.

Spanish side Villarreal have also emerged as contenders for the Italy international, though Miretti would prefer to continue his career in Serie A rather than relocate to La Liga. Fiorentina are additionally monitoring developments closely and could enter the bidding should negotiations between Juventus and Bologna fail to advance.

With the month-end deadline rapidly approaching, Juventus may be compelled to further reduce their asking price or accept alternative payment terms to ensure the midfielder’s departure and meet their financial obligations.
