Karlsruher SC ended their three-game losing streak in the 2. Bundesliga with a dominant 4-0 victory over Darmstadt at BBBank Wildpark. The emphatic win provides a significant boost for Maximilian Senft’s side, lifting them off the bottom of the table.

Early Dominance

Karlsruhe made a perfect start to the contest, taking the lead in the sixth minute. Marvin Wanitzek’s neat lay-off on the edge of the penalty area allowed Shio Fukuda to fire a low finish into the near corner, beyond Darmstadt goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen.

Just seven minutes later, Karlsruhe doubled their advantage. After Noel Eichinger’s effort initially caused problems for the Darmstadt goalkeeper, Fukuda helped work the opportunity into captain Marvin Wanitzek’s path, who fired into the far corner to make it 2-0.

Darmstadt attempted to respond, but Florian Kohfeldt’s side struggled to find a way through Karlsruhe’s organised defence, heading into the break two goals behind.

Second-Half Control and Implications

Karlsruhe carried their momentum into the second half, effectively putting the contest beyond doubt five minutes after the restart. Christoph Kobald found the net in the 50th minute to extend the hosts’ advantage to three goals.

The home side showed little sign of easing off and added a fourth goal in the 65th minute through Kevin Wiethaup. With a four-goal cushion already established, Karlsruhe comfortably managed the remainder of the match, preserving their clean sheet and completing an impressive afternoon.

The result represents a major response from Senft’s team after consecutive setbacks, offering renewed confidence ahead of their next fixture. For Darmstadt, the defeat is a disappointing setback, especially following their 3-1 victory over Energie Cottbus last weekend. Kohfeldt’s side were unable to reproduce that performance, with their defensive struggles in the opening stages ultimately proving costly.
