Kerim Alajbegovic has revealed he “didn’t think twice” about joining Juventus, despite receiving an offer from Chelsea, and has set his sights on competing for the Serie A title.
The 19-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international, who recently moved to Turin, believes his decision to join the Italian giants was the right one for his development.
“When you have an offer from Juventus, you don’t think twice, you have to go,” Alajbegovic told Sport Mediaset. “In the end it was a really good decision for me. The Juventus fans are fantastic, they give us more energy.”
Alajbegovic also praised coach Luciano Spalletti for his guidance, highlighting the manager’s approach to improving his game. “There is a top coach who always wants me to make small details better, and I need coaches who will tell me what I need to do better, not just always good,” he explained. “He will help me to become a top, top player and I am really happy to work with him.”
Juventus currently sit in joint fifth place in Serie A after five rounds, having secured three wins, one draw, and suffering a 3-2 defeat to Sassuolo. Despite the early stage of the season, Alajbegovic is clear about the team’s ambitions.
“For sure, Juventus is the biggest team in Italy and we have traditions,” he stated. “I don’t speak about titles, it’s really early for this, but for sure we want to compete for the title and have big ambitions.”
The versatile forward is still awaiting his first Serie A goal but has already made an impact in European competition, scoring in Juventus’s 5-0 Europa League victory over NEC. He also recently featured for his national team, playing in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 0-0 Nations League draw away to Poland.
