Deadline Day Drama Unfolds in Serie A
The summer transfer window in Italy officially closed on September 1, 2026, at 19:00 UK time, bringing an end to a period of intense activity across Serie A. Clubs made last-minute pushes to finalise deals, with several significant transfers confirmed in the final hours.
Key Confirmed Deals
Among the most notable moves, AC Milan officially secured the services of Omari Hutchinson from Nottingham Forest. The winger joins on a paid loan deal worth €4m, with an option to buy that could become an obligation for an additional €40m. This acquisition marks a significant investment for the Rossoneri as they bolster their squad.
Milan also saw a departure, finalising a €2m loan agreement for midfielder Youssouf Fofana to join French side Olympique Lyonnais. The deal includes an option for Lyon to make the move permanent for €12m.
Rivals Inter Milan were also active, agreeing to sell midfielder Issiaka Kamate to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid for €1.7m. Inter have included a 30 per cent sell-on clause in the agreement and retain an €8m buy-back option, indicating their long-term interest in the player’s development.
Fiorentina strengthened their attacking options by securing a loan deal for Pedro Goncalves from Sporting CP. The agreement includes a €25m option for Fiorentina to purchase the player permanently, a move that could significantly impact their creative output.
