Bayern Munich have confirmed that midfielder Konrad Laimer has signed a contract extension binding him to the club until 2029. The 29-year-old completed the formalities at the club’s Säbener Straße headquarters on July 20, the same day the squad returned for pre-season training.
Hoeneß intervention breaks salary deadlock
The extension resolves months of uncertainty regarding the Austrian’s future. Laimer had reportedly sought to increase his annual earnings from €9 million to between €12-15 million, a figure the club considered excessive. The impasse was broken following intervention by honorary president Uli Hoeneß, with negotiations ultimately yielding a moderate increase that satisfied both parties.
Laimer was among the early arrivals at Bayern’s training ground on Monday, joining teammates Tom Bischof and Serge Gnabry for the first day of preparations. He was observed leaving the administrative offices at midday and confirmed to waiting media representatives that he had signed the extension, with the official announcement following shortly afterwards.

Sporting director Max Eberl welcomed the agreement, highlighting Laimer’s importance to the dressing room. “We are delighted that Konny will continue his journey at FC Bayern,” Eberl stated. “Reliability at the highest level has earned him a reputation, and with his skills and character, he is an important part of the team. He is a player who inspires and motivates others in the squad every single day.”
