Senegalese winger Krépin Diatta has officially left AS Monaco after his contract with the Principality club expired, the Ligue 1 side confirmed on Tuesday. The 27-year-old becomes a free agent after spending four seasons at the Stade Louis II, during which he made 143 appearances across all competitions.
Monaco spell marked by injury and versatility
Diatta joined Monaco from Belgian Pro League champions Club Brugge in 2021 for a fee of €16 million. His early months in France were disrupted when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury shortly after arriving, limiting his initial impact.
However, the versatile wide player recovered to establish himself as a useful squad member capable of operating on both flanks and at full-back. During his tenure, he scored eight goals and provided nine assists. Last season proved to be his final campaign in red and white, with Diatta featuring 22 times as Monaco competed on domestic and European fronts.
Squad reshuffle continues
The Senegal international is currently representing his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will search for a new employer upon his return from international duty. His departure forms part of a broader restructuring of the Monaco squad.
The club have opted against triggering buy options for loanees Simon Adingra and Wout Faes, allowing both players to return to their parent clubs. By contrast, Monaco have decided to retain Barcelona loanee Ansu Fati, ensuring the Spanish forward remains part of their attacking plans for the forthcoming campaign.
Diatta’s exit leaves him free to negotiate with potential suitors without a transfer fee, with his experience in France, Belgium and international football likely to attract interest from clubs across Europe.
