Juventus are prepared to loan out Lois Openda just one year after signing the striker for €46 million, with newly-promoted Coventry City and three French clubs expressing interest.

The forward has been made available for transfer following a disappointing debut season in Turin. Openda joined from RB Leipzig last summer for a total fee of €46m, but he managed only two goals in 34 competitive appearances for the Bianconeri. His form deteriorated badly after December 2025, and he played just four minutes across the final 11 games of the campaign.

Loan structure favoured

Given the significant financial outlay on the original deal, Juventus are unlikely to secure a permanent sale this summer. Instead, the Italian club are open to a loan arrangement that includes an option to buy, allowing potential suitors to assess the player before committing to a full transfer.

Several clubs have already made enquiries. Openda’s former club RC Lens are monitoring the situation, while fellow Ligue 1 sides Olympique Lyonnais and Stade Rennais have also asked about his availability. All three French clubs could offer the striker a return to familiar surroundings.

Premier League alternative

An alternative destination could emerge in England. Coventry City, who recently secured promotion to the Premier League, have registered their interest as they look to strengthen their attacking options for the top flight.

The Premier League newcomers view Openda as a potential statement signing to demonstrate their ambitions ahead of their return to the top tier. The move would offer the striker a chance to rebuild his reputation in one of Europe’s most competitive divisions.

What happens next

Openda’s dramatic loss of form has created an unusual situation for a player who commanded such a significant fee just 12 months ago. A return to RC Lens appears the most logical step given his previous success there, where he established himself as one of Ligue 1’s most promising forwards before moving to Germany.

However, the opportunity to test himself in English football with Coventry may prove tempting, particularly if guaranteed starting opportunities are on offer. Juventus will hope that regular minutes elsewhere can restore his market value ahead of any future permanent transfer.
