Marseille enter race for Chelsea’s Washington
Olympique de Marseille have enquired about Chelsea forward Deivid Washington, entering the race for the 21-year-old Brazilian who is expected to secure a loan move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Washington has struggled to break into Chelsea’s first team since joining the Premier League side. With limited opportunities to develop at the senior level, a temporary departure has become the most likely outcome as the transfer window progresses.
Strasbourg and Sevilla submit offers
The young striker faces a choice between several European destinations. RC Strasbourg Alsace, who share ownership with Chelsea under the BlueCo umbrella, have submitted a formal offer for Washington. The French side are seeking attacking reinforcements following the departure of Emanuel Emegha and a serious setback for Joaquín Panichelli, who sustained an ACL injury and is not expected to return until the turn of the year.
Spanish club Sevilla have also tabled an offer for the forward, providing an alternative route for the player to gain valuable first-team experience in La Liga.
