Radoslaw Majecki has joined Cypriot side Pafos on a season-long loan from AS Monaco, the Ligue 1 club confirmed on Friday. The agreement includes an option for the Cypriot outfit to sign the Polish goalkeeper permanently, though the specific value of that buy option has not been disclosed.
The move represents Majecki’s second consecutive temporary departure from the Principality as he seeks to rebuild his career following a challenging spell in French football. The shot-stopper spent the previous campaign on loan at Stade Brestois, where he endured a difficult season at the Stade Francis Le Blé. By the conclusion of that term, he had lost his place in the starting eleven, prompting his return to Monaco.
However, opportunities for first-team football at the Stade Louis II appear non-existent under manager Filipe Luis. The Portuguese coach has established a clear goalkeeping hierarchy, with Finland international Lukas Hradecky retained as the undisputed number one choice. Philipp Kohn occupies the second position in the pecking order, leaving Majecki without a realistic pathway to feature for Les Monégasques in the upcoming season.
Unlike his previous arrangement with Les Ty-Zéfs, which did not contain a purchase clause, this loan to Pafos includes an explicit buy option. This structure provides the Cypriot club with a pathway to secure Majecki’s services on a permanent basis should he impress during his time in Cyprus. For the Polish keeper, the move offers a crucial opportunity to secure regular playing time and rehabilitate his standing after his struggles in France’s top flight.
