Rafael Leão has confirmed he will return to AC Milan for pre-season training on 29 July, though the Portugal international admits his future at the club remains unresolved following talks over a possible departure.
The 27-year-old winger has spent seven seasons with the Rossoneri but finds himself at a crossroads after a disappointing Serie A campaign saw Milan miss out on Champions League qualification. Leão, who is the club’s highest earner, is currently enjoying an extended break in Brazil following his involvement with Portugal at the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Leão opens up on Milan talks
Speaking to Brazilian podcast Podpah (via La Gazzetta dello Sport), Leão revealed he has already discussed the possibility of leaving with club officials, though he remains committed to fulfilling his contractual duties.
“I’ve already spoken with the club about the possibility of trying a new experience,” Leão said. “I don’t know what will happen, I have to show up at Milanello on the 29th, and as long as I’m there, I will always give my best and respect the shirt that has given me everything.”
He added: “It’s a club that has helped me a lot in so many different ways, but in life, you have other ambitions as well. I will study the options, but for now, I remain a Milan player.”
Fenerbahçe interest
Turkish club Fenerbahçe have emerged as a potential destination, with reports in Italy suggesting they are prepared to offer Leão a salary of €10 million per season. This would represent an increase on his current wages, though it remains unclear whether the Portugal international would consider a move to the Süper Lig at this stage of his career.
Representatives from the Istanbul-based side are expected to hold discussions with Leão’s camp, but no agreement has been reached.
