Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti is growing increasingly frustrated with the club’s sluggish transfer activity and expects at least five more signings before the Serie A season kicks off in one month, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Bianconeri have secured only two additions so far this window: former Roma defender Zeki Celik on a free transfer and teenage striker Jeff Ekhator from Genoa. With the 2026-27 campaign approaching, Spalletti feels he has merely three or four established starters available for training.
Striker hunt intensifies
Following Dusan Vlahovic’s departure at the end of his contract on 30 June, Juventus are actively seeking two centre-forwards. Negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Randal Kolo Muani continue, with the Italian side prepared to exceed a €40 million bid for the French international.
The club are also exploring a loan move for Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee and a permanent deal for Parma’s Mateo Pellegrino. Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison has emerged as a secondary option should primary targets prove elusive.
Goalkeeper and defensive targets
Spalletti has identified goalkeeper as a priority position to replace Michele Di Gregorio. The club are pursuing Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa and Alisson Becker from Liverpool, though neither deal has advanced significantly. Parma’s Zion Suzuki and Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario remain alternatives.
Additionally, the manager wants one more midfielder and a left-sided defender. Douglas Luiz appears likely to be reintegrated into the squad after previously facing an uncertain future.
Squad clearout expected
With several senior figures including Gleison Bremer, Weston McKennie and Francisco Conceicao still on extended leave following World Cup duty, and others such as Kenan Yildiz and Khephren Thuram recovering from fitness issues, Spalletti is working with a depleted group.
The Italian coach has reportedly informed certain players they face exclusion from his plans. La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Spalletti told squad members: “I will still be here, but a lot of you won’t.” Players surplus to requirements include Joao Mario, Edon Zhegrova, Lois Openda and Arkadiusz Milik.
Despite the delays, the club maintains confidence in chief executive Giovanni Carnevali, who is reportedly beginning to act with greater urgency to satisfy the manager’s demands before the season opener.
