RC Strasbourg Alsace are considering former Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank for their vacant head coach position, according to French football insider Mohamed Toubache-Ter.
The Ligue 1 club finds itself seeking a new manager following Gary O’Neil’s unexpected departure to Ipswich Town. The Englishman left the French side barely six months into his tenure, having replaced Liam Rosenior last December. Rosenior himself had exited Strasbourg for Chelsea after a brief spell in charge, meaning the Alsatians are now facing their second managerial search within a year.
Frank, who is currently a free agent, represents an immediately available option for the BlueCo-owned club as they prepare to begin pre-season training on 8 July. The Dane departed Tottenham in February following a short stint in North London, where he had replaced Ange Postecoglou. His time at Spurs ended after a disappointing sequence of results, though he had previously established himself as head coach at Brentford.
The timing presents a significant challenge for Strasbourg. With players due to report for pre-season in early July, the club must appoint a successor quickly to oversee summer preparations and assess the squad. Toubache-Ter reports that Frank is “in BlueCo’s crosshairs” to take over, suggesting the ownership group has identified the Dane as a leading candidate to stabilise the dugout.
Should Frank accept the position, he would become the third British manager to take charge of the French side in quick succession, following the paths of both Rosenior and O’Neil. The rapid turnover highlights the volatility at the club since its acquisition by BlueCo, with each of the last two permanent appointments lasting only a matter of months before attracting interest from Premier League clubs.
The appointment would mark a swift return to management for Frank, offering the Dane an opportunity to work in French football while providing Strasbourg with an experienced hand ahead of the new campaign.
