Serie A club Torino are closing in on the signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri from Leeds United. Sky Sport Italia and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano report that final details are being sorted between the clubs.
Perri, 28, is set to leave Elland Road just twelve months after arriving from Olympique Lyon in a €16 million deal. The goalkeeper previously featured for Crystal Palace in England and struggled to establish himself during his sole season with Leeds, conceding 29 goals across 16 Premier League appearances and keeping only three clean sheets.
Leeds identify Trafford as replacement
Leeds United are becoming increasingly confident of securing James Trafford from Manchester City to fill the void left by Perri’s departure. Sky Sport’s Gianluca Di Marzio suggests the Trafford deal will pave the way for Perri’s transfer to the Stadio Grande Torino.
The agreement for Trafford would trigger Perri’s release, allowing the Brazilian to complete his switch to Turin. The move represents a significant reshuffle of goalkeeping options for the Championship side.
Defensive targets and coaching change
Torino’s recruitment extends beyond the goalkeeping position. The club are in advanced talks to sign former Valencia defender Eray Cömert as a free agent. The Switzerland international is also attracting interest from Lazio.
These potential acquisitions come ahead of a new chapter at the club. Torino have appointed Ignazio Abate as head coach for the 2026-27 season. The former AC Milan defender led Juve Stabia to the Serie B play-offs last term.
Should both deals materialise, Abate will have additional defensive options at his disposal when he takes charge in Turin.
