Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta has spoken openly about rumours linking central defender Alessandro Bastoni with a move to FC Barcelona. The club chief admits the Spanish giants admire the Italian international. However, he stresses that no formal offer has arrived at San Siro.
Speaking to Radio Anch’Io Sport, Marotta praised the 25-year-old centre-back. He called Bastoni a “great talent” and a “great champion”. The president also referenced a recent incident where Bastoni received criticism for simulation against Juventus. Marotta explained that the player admitted his mistake. The club supported him through that difficult moment.
Marotta made clear that Bastoni wishes to remain with the Nerazzurri. “A player only leaves if he wants to go,” he stated. “Right now, he is happy here. We are happy with him.” This news comes as Inter celebrate their third Scudetto victory in the past five campaigns.
