Branimir Hrgota will bid farewell to SpVgg Greuther Fürth when the current campaign concludes. The Swedish frontman has informed the Cloverleaves that he will not extend his stay beyond the summer of 2026.
The 32-year-old has rejected the club’s offer of a new deal. He now plans to test himself in a different environment after six years at the venue.
“When I first stepped through the door in 2019, I did not expect this to become my longest stint at any club,” Hrgota stated in an official message. “We have shared incredible moments together. The promotion to the top flight was special, but wearing the captain’s armband has been the greatest honour of my career.”
The forward wants the focus to remain on the team rather than his departure. He urged his team-mates to concentrate on their remaining crucial fixtures as they chase a strong finish.
Hrgota has been prolific during his time in Bavaria. He has struck 69 times in 238 appearances across all competitions. The attacker has also laid on 41 assists for his colleagues. These figures make him the most lethal marksman in the club’s history within the professional divisions.
Stephan Fürstner, the sporting director, paid tribute to the veteran. “Brane has earned enormous respect through his service,” Fürstner explained. “His contributions are truly exceptional and guarantee him a permanent place in our history books. We hope to give him the perfect send-off by winning our upcoming clashes.”
