Borussia Dortmund are preparing to unveil their newest defensive recruit. French teenager Joane Gadou has arrived in Germany to finalise his switch from RB Salzburg.
Multiple sources including Sky Germany and Bild report that the 19-year-old centre-back will complete his medical examinations shortly. The Bundesliga club will pay an initial fee of €19 million for his services. Additional bonuses could add another €4.5 million to the total cost.
The young defender is expected to put pen to paper on a long-term agreement that runs until 2031. This signing fills the gap left by Niklas Süle. The experienced German defender recently confirmed he will hang up his boots when the current campaign concludes.
Gadou bid an emotional farewell to his Austrian employers via social media. In an Instagram post shared overnight, he thanked everyone at the club for their support during his time there.
“I depart with powerful memories and moments I shall never forget,” he wrote. “I am grateful for all the advice and experiences whilst wearing these colours. This chapter closes, but the lessons remain with me forever. Thank you, Salzburg.”
The France Under-19 international began his professional journey at Paris Saint-Germain. Salzburg acquired his signature in 2024 for approximately €10 million. During his brief stint in Austria, he made 58 appearances across all competitions.
