German club VfB Stuttgart have made their first move to keep striker Deniz Undav for the long term. The Bundesliga side have tabled an initial contract proposal to the forward. They hope to extend his current deal beyond 2027.

According to Sky Germany, the offer arrived last week. The club described it as a respectful proposal. However, the player and the club are still far apart on key terms.

Undav reportedly wants around six million euros per year. While both parties are moving closer to an agreement, talks about wages and contract length will continue.

The 28-year-old refused to discuss his future after Stuttgart beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 at the weekend. He stayed silent when reporters asked about the negotiations.

Club officials want clarity soon. They hope to resolve the matter before players report for national team duty ahead of the World Cup.
