Hamburger SV received a major fitness boost on Wednesday as defender Miro Muheim rejoined the first team for a full training session. The Swiss international had been sidelined for the previous three league matches due to an ankle syndesmosis problem.
Approximately 500 supporters attended the open session on 13 May to watch the 28-year-old participate in the entire workout. His return offers hope for both HSV and the Switzerland national team coach ahead of this summer’s World Cup in North America.
Assistant coach Loic Fave spoke carefully about the player’s chances of featuring in the final match. “He looked sharp today. We hope he can play, but this was only his first session back. We must monitor how he responds over the coming days,” Fave explained.
However, the club also received concerning news from the treatment room. Midfielder Nicolás Capaldo was absent with back trouble, while striker Robert Glatzel missed the session due to a calf strain. In further bad news, young defender Alexander Rössing-Lelesiit underwent surgery on 11 May after experiencing a setback in his own comeback from a similar ankle injury.
